Get classy!

A few months later I took a Wilton cake decorating class with some friends. It was fairly basic, but was VERY FUN! It seems I've destroyed misplaced most of the pictures of the practice cakes and such from said class. But here are a few...
This is the strangest weird fish cake idea...

Mardi Gras? This cake was my 'final' for the class. Somehow, I passed!

Midway through the class I made this towering beauty for my stellar brother, Ben.

The character is from Fallout 3. A game he was mostly actually physically attached to by XBOX controller umbilical at the time. Sorry, pal...

Super Happy

Well, then my little sprout was going to be 2. And, now she had new little friends whose parents I could try to impress with my enthusiastic cake prowess... (yeah right) So, here it is...
If you click on the pictures, they're a bit more clear...
If you haven't ever seen 'Ni Hao, Kai-Lan' HOORAY FOR YOU!! No, seriously, though.. It's a cute show. Much like 'Dora the Explorer' but Chinese. And, it teaches Mandarin instead of Spanish, etc etc. What's that? How cute and trendy? No. When your child uses a Mandarin word at you, you won't know what they're saying.. And, you will probably ask them to come back when they can use their words. Oops. Anyhow, Kai-Lan was glorious on our cake!!!

Awww, little people and cake!!

T'was good cake.

Enthusiasm

So, I'm not a baker. I like 'Cake Enthusiast' better. I've never had cooking or baking lessons, really. I helped my mom make as many of my younger siblings' cakes as I was competent to.. And, some were quite adventurous! I will definitely post pictures of them on here if I can dig them up. They are real stone aged, actual pictures on pieces of paper you see...

Well, anyway. I made this cake for my daughter's first birthday...

It got pretty good reviews...

I've always enjoyed baking in general. And, drooled over Ace of Cakes.. possibly too often (at least before I cancelled cable!!!! FREEEDOM!!!) There were a few moments in life I almost went to culinary school to be a pastry chef.. But, then I worked around enough chefs to decide I was WAY too impatient to go that route. So, I will continue on as hap-hazard house woman and 'cake enthusiast'. It suits me, no?

I make cake, it's fun...

Hellllllllllllllo!!!
Another blog, you say? Yes. This is a much better way of keeping all my things in order... Or at least in one place? I don't know..
Anyhow, I am going to transfer my "website" content over here. As it isn't really a whole actual website, it's a blog pretending to be a website. But, with less nice features. :)!
